Time to leave

For all practical purposes, our trip is over. We had a family dinner tonight, a shrimp boil, and some of us will be leaving tomorrow. Our grandson will be leaving for California to return to the naval base; we will be spending the morning packing up; our son and daughter-in-law will be leaving Saturday morning and the rest will be departing on Sunday. It has been a wonderful time seeing our children again even though there were 2 grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, and 1 son and his wife plus the youngest granddaughter missing. We are growing so fast that we still had 15 people here.

Tonight, we began our packing by changing sheets on the bed (getting ready for our next trip). It really doesn't take us long since we are pretty self-contained. RVing is so much fun. It really brings a family and friends together.

Save a Life; Request a Call

We are now at a campground in South Carolina now until Thursday. We hated to leave where we were but since this is a family reunion-type gathering, we wanted to come down. Our son, his wife, and one of their sons is here from California and we haven't seen them since last year at this time. We are really glad they could make it once again. Our daughter, her husband, and their son and daughter are also here; their other daughter and family will be coming in tomorrow. Our daughter and her 2 little children are here too. Our other son was unable to join us since their baby is so small and they didn't want to expose her yet. She is only 1 month old. Today, we spent the day together, some of us girls went shopping. I think tomorrow, some of the girls are going to Charleston for much of the day.

We thought we would be getting a shower today but it went around us. I did get a call from home saying we were having a storm there. I really appreciate one of our local TV stations allowing us to sign up to get these warnings. It could really save a life. Thanks, WRAL-TV for protecting your viewers. I recommend that everyone request a call.

Relaxing, Resting, or Rambling

We relax one day, rest from that, then ramble around the area. Yesterday, we drove to the Serpentarium where I dropped the daughter and grands off (that trip is absolutely NOT for me! I do not like snakes even when behind glass!). I drove on down Water Street, watched the Coast Guard cutter, enjoyed the beautiful view, then shopped awhile. I had planned to go back and pick them up but they decided to walk the 3 or 4 blocks to where I was parked. We then enjoyed a wonderful meal at Paddy's Hollow: shrimp, chicken, and excellent desserts! That was a fun trip.

We stopped by Wal-Mart on the way back to the beach where we enjoyed a little more shopping. Last night my niece and her family arrived and will stay here until Sunday. They have an RV too. Right now, they have all traveled to the nearby aquarium. From there, they may go see the Hermit's Cave before returning here. Tomorrow, I think we will take the ferry over to Southport for the day. That's usually a fun trip, at least for the children. The ferry ride is boring to me and I look forward to reaching the other side. I do like the Christmas shop there.

I have started playing on Facebook Farmtown and spend a lot of time on that. That is so much fun though. I am now at Level 26, have purchased 1 house, a barn, a tenant house, animals, and am waiting to get to another Level so I can purchase a river for my farm. It's so much fun: harvesting and plowing and making new friends and neighbors.

Sitting in the Shade at the Beach

That's right. We have been enjoying the beach since last weekend and we will bgin the countdown for our stay here. Our daughter and her family are with us and my niece and her family will be joining us tomorrow for a few days. After that, we will be moving from this beach to another one for several more days. I believe we have about 1 week total left to enjoy this vacation. Then, we need to start planning another trip. Perhaps we will venture toward the mountains. Our church trip didn't make so now I have some time available in August to travel.

What do you think of the socialized medicine plan? We oppose. Small businesses will be badly hurt; individuals will suffer; service will be more limited. After talking with some of my friends in Canada, they strongly urge the U.S. not to accept this plan. I just cannot see that this is a positive move.

On the Sandy Shores

We are enjoying the sandy shores of North Carolina today. It's a little cloudy but no rain although a shower would always be welcome when it's so dry everywhere in the state. The grands are enjoying the beach, seeking seashells, boarding on the waves, or digging. They have also visited the NC Aquarium here and the military museum. Riding their little bikes has been a real treat for them too, especially when Dad will remove their training wheels and run along beside them. They are so cute!

Their dad will be leaving for home shortly because he has to work this week; we will stay on with them and try to enjoy the beach (oh well, that will be hard...yeah, right!).

I have developed a dry socket where I had the tooth cut out. Now I'm having to visit the oral surgeon every other day. I hope by next weekend, that pain will be gone! Who needs pain at the beach!

Will the Tooth Fairy Vist?

I had a tooth extracted Last Monday and I have had a time getting over that. I always thought it was more difficult to lose a molar. To top it all off, I had to end up with a dry socket; what a bummer that was! I had to go back for packing the place because bone was exposed. Actually it still is. Now, we are vacation at the beach and I will have to visit a local oral surgeon 3 times next week to have repacking done. The only funny thing was when the kiddies asked if the tooth fairy will come to see me. Unfortunately, I haven't seen him/her yet! Awwww.

What a busy week we have had. This was the week for Vacation Bible School . Of course, the little ones wanted to attend and so I stayed with them. They really enjoyed going. I think it was good for them too, to learn more about the Bible, and also to learn how other children should act in church. Not surprisingly, I was told that these 2 were the best behaving 2 present. I don't know about that but I do know they were very good and I was proud of both of them. They both do love to socialize and be around other children and I think it's important. Other children can certainly learn how to behave with good manners.

Forget I lost a tooth??

How many different ways can one travel in a day and end up back home before 5:00 PM? I know; it depends on the distance each way and how long you stay. I had to take hubby in one direction this morning for a dr appointment which took 2 hours plus almost 2 hours of traveling. Then I had to take myself to a dr in the opposite direction; another about 1 and 1/2 hour trip. My time spent there wasn't quite as long but that's a lot of traveling, sitting, waiting, and traveling some more. Oh well, all in a day of fun if you want to call it that.

I'm grateful to be able to get out and go though, even if it was to a dr today. Maybe tomorrow my traveling will be more fun. There is a possibility that I may be able to see one of the little grandbabies tomorrow, and if so, I'm all for that. It's between seeing her or having a tooth extracted...hmmm which should I do? Well, if I can I will get the tooth out so I will be happier when I see the little one.

Today at the oral surgeon, she tried to tell me that I had a bridge on the bottom left side of my mouth and I said no, I don't. She told me to look at the x ray and I still said I had no bridge there; if I did, I had not been taking proper care of it. She was so caught up with that that she didn't even look at the bad tooth until she had satisfied her curiosity. Of course, I was right: no bridge! It turns out that the x ray was just a bad picture. I thought I would remember if I had lost a molar there; I forget a lot but so far, tooth pulling hasn't been one of those.

Not in the Mood

I haven't been in the mood to do much of anything lately; you may wonder why, as do I. Perhaps it's the warm weather; maybe I'm just being lazy; but, more than likely, it's because my grands and their family have been gone for 10 days and I miss seeing them almost every day. I know they are having fun at the beach so I cannot fault them for being away (maybe they feel the same way when we are gone a long time too). I will be glad to see them but I won't wish their family vacation time away.

I also miss our 2 very good friends who are gone on a trip to Alaska. We had hoped to make that trip too but with surgeries for Hubby, we were unable to go this year. If all goes well, however, look out 2010!! I hope the entire family will be well so that traveling can be in our plans!

Happy 4th!

Let me be the first to wish all of you a safe, healthy, and happy fourth of July! I don't know that we will do anything special. The children are away at the beach and that leaves the two of us to make our own fun. After 42 years together, we are running out of things to do that would be different I suppose. The small town we live in is having a special celebration on Sunday; we may try to take that in after church. I have Children's Church Sunday morning so I will try to do something related to the special independence day. The next Sunday, I have to teach Sunday School so I will need to start on that lesson very soon. My good friend and her hubby are away on a special trip so they won't be present to give my lesson that special pizazz. I hope they have a wonderful trip.

Next week is going to be filled with doctor appointments in every direction I do believe. I'm about ready to start thinking like my brother-in-law who has decided to go West and camp to his heart's content, leaving all of his several doctors behind. He says he feels better than ever. I think I have to have a change in my mindset so that I, too, will feel better than ever. That's something I'm going to start working on right away. I don't feel bad at all, just have certain problems that need to be addressed.

Have a Happy 4th. Remember all those who are fighting to keep our country independent.
