Color My World Red and Green!
I just moved over to my blog from Kendra's and I, too, am very excited about Christmas! I love the season. It is so wonderful to see so many smiling faces and to hear all the friendly hello's and Merry Christmases. But, alas, I am now sad because I just listened to a report coming from some of the schools in Plano, Texas, and I just want to cry for those children (and adults, too)! It seems that a parent group is in charge of the functions that occur in the some of the schools and their idea of Christmas is ridiculous! Actually, to them it is now Winter parties in the classroom and there can be no red or green displayed in any way! The parents can bring reindeer cookies but they are not allowed to put a red nose on Rudolph!! All plates must be white! There can be no gifts with a religious note given to other students or teachers. To top it all off, a music teacher argued with a first grader that there is no Santa Claus and definitely no elves! Well, fine, to each his own, but to deflate a little child whose parents wanted the child to enjoy Santa Claus another year or two, I cannot fathom! Oh, and teachers cannot say the word, God. What is happening to my rights, your rights, the rights of your friends and neighbors? I am a retired public school employee and this behavior makes me sick!! My grandchildren are looking forward to Santa, to having presents, and to singing Christmas carols and hearing the Christmas Story! That is the right of my family! Don't mess with it, I say. How about you? Will you pray that folks will open their eyes and understand the real meaning of Christmas? Let me see the red and green decorations in stores; let me shake the packages neatly wrapped under the tree in their bright colors; let me hum along to "O Little Town of Bethlehem"; and, let me pray that my little town will never leave its traditions, that the red and green will always be present at this joyous season! Most of all, let us all remember Jesus, His birth, His resurrection, and our assurance of a happy future with Him in His glorious Kingdom. Thank God that I live in America and am free to proclaim His birth!
Bring out the red and green!!
