Tis the Season for Cocoa!
This afternoon, I became a child again! I decided to go downtown to the local Christmas Parade. I went alone and I watched the parade alone; actually, I wasn't alone because there were many folks around me watching as well. I was standing in an area among quite a few children but only a few adults. When one of the floats came by, a little girl looked at me, smiled and threw candy directly at me. I caught it, smiled at her, and said thank you. She then gave me the biggest smile! I started thinking about that. I wondered, did she think that I was a lonely little lady and that I needed a piece of candy to cheer me? Was she feeling sorry for me because I was the only lady in the midst of happy children? Or, perhaps I reminded her of her grandmother? Whatever the reason, I thought the act was very sweet. What a surprise, when several minutes later, another little child threw another piece of candy at me. Although this, too, was appreciated, I began to wonder if I had that hungry look. Well, I did come home and make a big pot of delicious hot cocoa which Don and I enjoyed just as we used to do at Christmas when the children were small. Kendra always looked forward to the hot cocoa and will still recall those "good old days". Once again, Tis the season for Cocoa!!
