Time to Go South

We took a few short treks today, once to have breakfast at the Shatley Springs Inn Restaurant. For a place in the middle of nowhere, it does stay very busy. That's what good food and good water will do for you. Then we spent awhile riding the mountain ranges (once again we could have used Daniel Boone's assistance when we ended up on a dirt road, 2 very, very narrow antiquated bridges, and an intersection with no directions. It's been a lot of fun for us these 8 days but now it's time to head south. We hope to return soon with perhaps a different cell phone company because Sprint just will not work here (they way there are no towers here). People here say Verizon and Alltel work best in this area.

We met the couple camping next to us this afternoon. They are full-timers but love it so much up here that they have bought 4 acres of land and are building a cabin which they hope to be in by November. The owners of the campground are sitting on a gold mine but are very slow getting it in the condition it needs to be in. He's one who wants to do all the work himself and that means years of hard labor.
