Surprised in the Park
My special entertainment happened unexpectedly this afternoon. While I sat relaxing and reading a book, I heard music which sounded like a parade here in the park. I thought, no, not in the park. There was no reason for a parade, especially since there had not been one announced. The music grew louder so I looked down the street. Sure enough! There came a parade! Not the usual parade, however; no, it was a parade of 20 odd golf carts! They were carrying flags, banners, and sporting all sorts of blinking lights. On the back was a lighted valentine. The riders were all dressed in red and some were imitating Cupid (with clothes of course). (Fortunately, the rain held off until after the "impromptu" parade.) Anyway, it was neat to see this! Who knows what will happen around here next. No one does when you have a park full of fun-loving Q-tips running around. One hour, you see some senior making jokes and, unfortunately, during the next hour you may see a rescue squad entering the park. There are so many elderly people in the adjacent park, many of whom are in really bad shape that anything can happen at any time. I think everyone in our park is in fairly good health. Of course, most people here are a bit younger, too.
Today was flea market day in many of the parks. We enjoyed the one here in our park, then went to another to see what they had. I did buy a book from a man who was a survivor of a concentration camp in Germany during WWII. He was very interesting to listen to as he explained some of the horrible things he endured as a child which looking for his mom from whom he had gotten separated. I'll let you know if the book is worthwhile reading when I finish it.
