Where Am I?
I woke up this morning shivering but couldn't figure out why until I turned on the TV to the local station. The first thing I heard was that we were in a frost watch! WHAT? A what kind of watch here in Southern US? Yes, it was in the low 40's! But that is nothing; tonight, we are having another frost watch and the temperature is to drop into the mid-thirties! This is unusual for the deep, deep South and everyone is concerned about their flowers, fruit, and plants. I'm so glad that I brought an extra warm jacket with me because I needed it today and tomorrow. The good news is that by Thursday, temperatures are expected to be in the upper 70's and possibly 80. I think that will be a good day to visit the islands and hunt for seashells.
We had a visitor at church this morning speaking on character building. There are 49 character qualities, including benevolence, compassion, discretion, forgiveness, gratefulness, humility, loyalty, reverence, self-control, and sensitivity. Character First is the curriculum they use to home school their 10 children. Believe me, it must work because I have never seen more polite, interesting, family oriented children than these. It's amazing to observe them. The curriculum was designed after the program used by a company in Oklahoma City, which, after training their employees, the success of the company was unsurpassed. Their key belief is that if everyone practiced good character, our world would thrive in peace. I think we all need to strived to achieve these 49 character qualities. If interested, let me know and I will list all 49 in another blog.
